Trending Flavors
In our industry, a love for exploring new flavors is essential. Developing new combinations of flavors is part science, part art, part persistence. At Custom Flavors, we follow trends in the industry closely. Our focus is on sweet flavors <LINK to flavor categories page> that range from fruit to dairy to caramel to chocolate and into the exotic new trends that emerge.
Here’s what we’re seeing trend for 2018:
Blood Orange – Citrus is a dominant note across cultures and flavor applications. Blood orange is distinctive for its red or maroon coloring of the fruit and sometimes on the rind. It captures the familiar citrus orange taste with an unexpected raspberry-like flavor. Look for it to be used in beverages, nutritional supplements and confectionary products.
Burnt Caramel – This flavors takes the caramel craze in a new direction. The smoky, buttery sweet flavor is bound to be a favorite in dairy, bakery and confectionery applications.
Tumeric- This spice has long been known in India for its flavor and healing properties. It’s often combined with other spices in curries, but look to the warm, earthy flavor being used in unexpected fusion applications.
